Bungalow Style
Initially popular from 1910 to 1930, this cozy home design has made a comeback in recent years. Bungalows are generally narrower but deeper homes with either no garage or a detached garage. Most bungalows were built as starter homes on smaller lots about a quarter of an acre. Bungalows are often only one or two stories. Common features include a low-pitched roof that hangs over a front porch. Gables or a hipped roof is also typical.

Colonial Style
Colonial style homes are distinguished by their rectangular design, typically symmetrical. Colonials have tall two-story designs with rooms on the second floor. Windows are usually double-hung with small panes of equal size, framed by shutters. The entryway is usually protruding and often supported by columns.

Cape Cod Style
Cape Cod style homes originated in New England and are characterized by low, broad frame and a steep overhanging roof. Shutters and wide clapboards on the exterior give cape cod style homes their distinctive look.
