Do you ever get overwhelmed with your spring cleaning list? Wouldnt it be nice to have someone just tell you where to start?

We love cleaning tips to make life easier and hacks to make your home clean, and we love this list of homemade cleaning recipes but what about a list of the jobs that need to get done?

This Spring Cleaning Checklist Will Help You Get Organized

I have six kids dont doubt for a moment that their disasters are enough to overwhelm even a professional cleaner! A pre-made cleaning checklist is a huge help for me.

What is included in a spring cleaning?

Before our spring cleaning day, I print out my list of things that need to be cleaned. Then I break it down and divide the jobs between all of us. We get to work, and our house is spring cleaned and sparkly in one weekend.

Heres our spring cleaning list:

Living Areas Spring Cleaning Checklist

1. Wipe out all light fixtures OR stick them into the dishwasher. We like to wash ours in the dishwasher every year or so. Its so much easier than scrubbing off all the buildup.

2. Vacuum your sofa, recliner, and other chairs/fabric-covered couches.

3. Spot treat any stains that you find on your furniture.

4. Take a look at the carpet. Borrow a steam cleaner if you dont have one and steam clean your carpets.

5. Dust and wipe down the leaves of any houseplants. Try using milk. Milk is leaves them sparkly and hydrated and protects them from bugs.

6. Wipe down the blades of your ceiling fan. Try using a pillowcase to keep the dust bunnies from invading the rest of your home.

7. Sort through your CDs, DVDs, books, and magazines. Discard any that are unused/unwanted OR donate them to a local womens shelter.

8. Throw all the plastic toys into the dishwasher. Wash them on the top rack.

9. Stick any stuffed animals your kids have collected into the dryer on high heat for 20 minutes with a wet towel. The heat and dryer filter will help kill any bacteria and remove dust and lint that are on the toys.

10. Vacuum and wipe down the baseboards.

11. Vacuum and wipe down all air and exhaust fans.

12. Wipe down all window blinds.

13. Wash the windows and the window screens.

14. Wipe down all door knobs and door jams.

15. Wipe down all the switch plates in your home.

16. Wash all the curtains.

17. Roll up all large rugs and vacuum and mop underneath them.

18. Make sure each room has a trashcan wash them.

19. Replace all the batteries in any and all smoke detectors.

Spring Cleaning List for the Kitchen

20. Go through the pantry and throw out all the junk food to start with a clean, healthy slate.

21. Toss any expired or food no one likes. See those remnants of random bagged foods? Throw those out too.

22. Make an inventory list of staples. This list will make grocery shopping easier later.

23. Remove everything from the cabinets and wipe them down.

24. Discard any chipped or broken dishes, unmatched lids/containers, etc.

25. Clean the top of the cabinets and fridge.

26. Place a layer of parchment paper on the top of the fridge and cabinets. Next time you clean, simply lift the paper, discard and replace.

27. Sanitize sponges 1 minute in the microwave with a wet sponge should do the trick.

28. Clean the oven vents and kitchen exhaust fan. If possible, run any filters through the dishwasher.

29. Degrease and wash all stovetop burners.

30. Clean the oven. Make it easier by starting with a pot of lemon water.

31. Scrub all the browned cookie sheets, the bottoms of pots and pans, and other baking dishes.

32. Clean the garbage disposal. You can make a batch of disposal cubes that will make future cleanings easy.

33. Wipe out the microwave. If your microwave has an exhaust vent, clean and wipe that down.

34. Take apart the sink aerator and get all that gunk out of your sink faucet. Soak the parts in vinegar.

35. Take apart the sink trap and rinse out the drain. Drains hold immense amounts of mold, and you dont want those spores in your kitchen.

36. Clean your toaster. Wipe it down and take out the tray(s) underneath that hold crumbs. Dump out the crumbs and replace the tray(s).

37. As long as you are cleaning things, wipe underneath the kitchen sink.

38. Organize your kitchen cleaning supplies.

39. Make your kitchen sink sparkle. Reseal the edge of your sink if necessary.

40. Move appliances if you are able and clean underneath them. Am I the only one amazed by the amount of gross buildup that I find under the stove?

41. Wash the inside of the dishwasher! You wont believe how easy it is with this DIY Dishwasher Recipe!

Spring Clean Up For Your Refrigerator

42. Clean your fridge. Remove all the food from your fridge and freezer. Throw away expired or unused items. Place the items into coolers with some ice to keep them cool while you clean.

43. Put the shelves from the fridge into the dishwasher. Wash by hand the shelves or drawers you can not wash in the machine.

44. Wipe out the walls of your fridge. Add a new box of baking soda to keep the fridge fresh smelling!

45. If your freezer looks icy, defrost it. Wipe down all fridge seals.

46. Pull your fridge out from the wall and vacuum off the coils in the back of the fridge. This will help your fridges performance in the future. Clean the floor under your fridge while you are at it!

Spring Cleaning Checklist For Bedrooms & Closets

47. Wash your pillows. Yes, you really can wash them.

48. Vacuum your mattress. Sprinkle baking soda on the mattress first to absorb some of the junk.

49. Vacuum under your bed. If your bed is too big to get all the way under your mattress, move your bed to vacuum every inch of it.

50. Remove all the clothes from your closet and discard anything that you have not worn, is outdated, or otherwise damaged.

51. De-pill old sweaters to make them look new again.

52. Reorganize your clothes in your closet as you go through them so its easy to find what youre looking for.

53. Set aside clothes that need to be mended.

54. Clean out the kids clothes. Go through everything and get rid of anything that is too small or too damaged to repair.

55. Clean your clothes iron all you need is some salt.

56. Go through the linen closet and throw away any old, worn or torn sheets.

57. Wash all the towels to freshen them up! Add a couple of cups of vinegar to the wash. I like to wait until after the first rinse and then let them soak in the vinegar for half an hour or so and then re-wash.

Spring Cleaning List for Bathrooms

58. Stick the shower curtain and the bath mats into the washer for a good cleaning. Let them air dry in the sun if possible afterward for UV sanitization. If they are especially gunky, just go ahead and replace them.

59. Empty the bathroom sink traps and clean out the drains. Sink pipes hold gobs of mold.

60. Take apart the faucet aerators and soak them in vinegar to descale them.

61. Dont forget about the toilets! Clean your toilets. Give them a solid scrubbing.

62. Make a mini bucket of cleaning supplies for each bathroom. If you already have one check to see that it has all necessary supplies.

63. Do you have Rain-X or another glass protector? Give your shower walls, mirror and any other glass surfaces a good cleaning. Spraying Rain-X on them will keep them clean longer.

64. Soak your shower head with a baggie of vinegar to get rid of the crusty white buildup that limits your shower flow.

65. Replace your toothbrushes (or toothbrush heads) and wash your toothbrush holder/chargers.

66. If you have a tub with jets, run a bath with a couple of cups of bleach to disinfect and clean the jet system in your bathtub.

67. Clean out and wash your hairbrush. Wipe down all beauty tools.

68. Have bottles or almost empty lotions or creams? Combine same creams or lotions into one bottle the get rid of the empty bottles.

69. Get rid of any old lotions, outdated makeup, and other odds and ends that really need to be thrown away.

70. Clean out under your bathroom sink. Use caddys to organize your supplies and products (hair products, hygiene products, etc).

71. Wash all of your makeup brushes, applicators, and removers.

72. Wipe down the walls and mop the floors.

73. Dont forget to clean the baseboards.

74. Check the seals and grout around your tub and shower. Clean your grout and any spots where you could not clean completely, scrape out and remove any mildewed grout. Replace it with fresh grout.

75. Scrub down the soap holder and additional holders in the shower.

Spring Clean Up Tasks For The Home Office

76. Wipe down your cell phone with a disinfectant, OR just use water to clean with a silver-laced microfiber cloth!

77. Clean your keyed items like TV remotes, security keypads, locks, etc.

78. Empty out your purse and wipe it out.

79. Reorganize your purse.

80. Organize your bills from the past year, discard any receipts you do not need to keep.

81. Backup your computer hard-drive. You never know when you will wish you had.

82. Go through your email inbox and delete old emails.

83. Unsubscribe from any spam emails you accidentally signed up for.

84. Organize your bills with a command center.

85. Make a list of debts that are outstanding and the dates that those bills need to be paid. Make a plan to get rid of them.

86. Print family photos from the past year to have a hard copy of your memories.

87. Vacuum out the vents in your computer.

88. Remove the case of your computer and spray canned air on it to clean your computers fans. This will help your computer run much better.

89. Clean your keyboard. Keyboards collect a ridiculous amount of germs and gunk!

Clean Out the Car, Garage &Outdoor Spaces

90. Empty the hot water heater by using a hose into your backyard.

91. Spray out the outdoor vent for your A/C unit.

92. Clean out any outdoor exhaust fans.

93. Vacuum out ductwork leading to those fans (like the dryer vent/fans).

94. Wash down any outdoor furniture.

95. Remove any oil stains from your driveway.

96. Scrub down the steering wheel of your car.

97. Change the wipers and apply waterproofing coating (such as Rain-X) to your windshield.

98. Clean and buff the lights on your vehicle.

99. Degunk the cup holders in your car. Add silicone inserts to keep the gunk from coming back.

100. Vacuum out the inside of your car and wash the outside.
